CAMATA is short for the Canadian Aerospace Medicine and Aeromedical Transport Association. It is a national non-profit organization that stands to enhance awareness, and promote training/operational guidelines in aerospace medicine and Aeromedical Transport across Canada.
Association Objectives
The purpose of CAMATA is to advance the science and art of Aerospace Medicine and Aeromedical Transport through:
- stimulating study within the field;
- disseminating knowledge;
- promoting discussion in the field;
- maintaining an active national organization, with appropriate representation from all groups;
- establishing and maintaining on-going cooperation with national and international sciences and organizations concerned with Aeromedicine.
MEET THE EXECUTIVE
Penny Triggs
President
Penny has been
involved in air
medical
operations on a
full time basis
since 1987, and
is currently the
VP Of Air
Medical
Operations with
Keewatin Air, an
advanced air
ambulance
service in
northern Canada. With a background in
critical care
nursing and
experience as an
instructor in
CPR, ACLS, PALS,
TNCC and STABLE,
Penny is
committed to
education in the
field of air
medical
transport.
Penny was
an integral part
of the
development of
the CAMATA Air
Medical Training
Program Level I
and is working
on the
development of
the Level II
program. She has
been involved in
critical care
transport in
across Canada, including the Canadian
Arctic and was
involved in the
delivery of air
ambulance
services on a
world wide basis
for over six
years.
Penny’s
special
dedication to
education in air
medical
transport makes
her an excellent
choice
for the
president
position in
CAMATA.
Karen Hamilton
Treasurer
Karen is a
registered nurse
with a varied
background in
critical care,
neurosurgery and
management.
She has
been involved in
air medical
operations since
2000.
For 5
years, she was
involved with
critical care
transports
across Canada and worldwide with Critical
Care
International.
She is currently
one of the Nurse
Managers for
Keewatin
Air/Nunavut
Lifeline, who
provides the
medevac services
to the Kivalliq
region of
Nunavut
and northern Manitoba.
Karen has taken
an active role
in CAMATA since
2001 and has
held various
executive
positions;
Member at Large,
Secretary,
Membership and
now Treasurer.
She also
was very
involved with
conference
planning and was
instrumental in
starting up
CAMATA’s
newsletter and
maintaining it
for 2 years.
Corinne Duprat
Secretary
Corinne
is a
Registered
Nurse with a
background
in Critical
Care and Air
Ambulance.
Corinne has
served as
both
President
and now
Secretary.
MEET THE OTHER GUY
Jason
IT and Web Guy
Jason has been with CAMATA since its inception and was with the former CAATS since 1994. He has served on the executive the entire time. He initiated the not for profit status with the government. Jason has a long serving background in Air Ambulance, Critical Care and Trauma Medicine.
Most recently he has served as International Vice Chairman of the Operational Medicine Committee for CIOMR.
